Interactive Programs for Schools, Libraries, Senior Centers, Recreation Departments, and Other Community Organizations

Roger's concerts and workshops involve audiences of all ages in singing, moving, dancing and playing percussion instruments. He offers workshops celebrating family heritage and cultural diversity teaching folk dances and songs from around the world. Programs include:

Most requested programs for seniors

  • Beatles and Beyond- 60s pop, mostly Beatles plus the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys and many others. Let's dance!
  • Blues to Bluegrass- Americana roots music from Mississippi Delta blues guitar to Appalchian old time banjo.
  • Classic Country- Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Patti Page, Merle Haggard, Wille Nelson...just to name a few!
  • Coffeehouse Concert - Contemporary folk songs by a variety of singer songwriters plus original songs.
  • Cowboy Songs, C&W and Yodeling- Across the great divide with cowboy sing-alongs,C&W, and yodeling instruction!
  • Elvis to the Everly Brothers- 50's rock, pop, and country hits. Singable and dancable...how about a senior prom?
  • Halloween Party- The Monster Mash to Ghost Riders in the Sky! Remember "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield?
  • Ireland to America- Sing-alongs, ballads, instrumentals, step dancing and spoon playing. Popular for St Patrick's Day!
  • Island Vacation- Hawaii to the Bahamas, Hula to Salsa, performed on ukulele, guitar and percussion. A luau favorite!
  • Old Time Sing-along- Golden oldies to campfire sing-alongs. Bring your ukulele! Lyrics provided
  • Pete Seeger to Peter, Paul and Mary- Memorable favorties from the 60s folk revival. Lyrics provided.
  • Swinging on a Star- 30s and 40s swing era big band classics plus memorable songs from stage and screen.
  • This Land is Your Land- Traditional American folk and patriotic songs. Especially popular for July 4th and Veterans Day
  • Winter Solstice Celebration- Seasonal sing-alongs plus songs from Christmas, Hanukah and other tradtions

Across the Americas

From Native and African Americans to European and Southeast Asian immigrants, Across the Americas is an entertaining and educational multicultural musical journey from Canada to South America. This participatory program explores the rich cultural diversity of the Americas with songs, instruments, and dances. Performed on a variety of stringed, wind and percussion instruments, the program includes songs in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and other languages.

Children's Songs and Singing Games

A highly interactive program appropriate for very young children and family audiences. Children sing, dance, move, imitate animals, play rhythm instruments, learn songs in Spanish and other languages through call and response, and explore other cultures through traditional and contemporary children's songs and play parties from around the world. The program also includes sing-alongs performed on guitar, banjo and other instruments.

Earth Rhythms: Songs for the Environment

From rain forests to recycling, conservation to compost, Eath Rhythms travels from our backyard to around the world celebrating and teaching environmental awareness and responsibility. Captivating songs, stories, legends and facts are accompanied by the Native American rainstick, Incan Charango and flute, Russian balalaika, African Achika drum, as well as guitar, mandolin, banjo and harmonica.
